Anne Frank and Other Hidden Children of the Holocaust

Anne Frank and Other Hidden Children of the Holocaust

Anne Frank is the most well-known hidden child of the Holocaust. On what would be her 91st birthday, we’ll honor the tens of thousands of young people whose families placed them in hiding to protect them.

Like Anne, some lived in the shadows. Others took on new identities and hid in plain sight. Al Münzer was an infant when his parents made the agonizing decision to place him in a friend’s care after the Nazis invaded their home country, the Netherlands. For about three years, Al's main view of the outside world was through a mail slot.

Speaker Dr. Al Münzer, Holocaust survivor and Museum volunteer

Moderator Dr. Edna Friedberg, Historian, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
